My 2009 Triple Header Project

Every year, I'm looking for some (physical) project to occupy myself.  In the past, I've concentrated on mountaineering in the Alps or Skye, mountain biking in the Alps, running marathons, taking up triathlon and then last year (2008, seems weird to say that already) it was Ironman (still haven't written that up yet, very lazy of me, I'll get on it soon). This year, I've got a few things on the go, and one of those is a 3-part project.  My idea is to do a long distance swim, cycle and run, on separate days, and not as part of a race.  So, these are:
  • Swim the length of St. Mary's Loch (about 3 miles)
  • Circumnavigate the Cairngorms on mountain bike (about 100 miles, in a single day)
  • Run from Moffat to Peebles, over the hills (about 36 miles)
The first part of these 3, will be the Moffat to Peebles run, hopefully in March or April, as training for another project that I have going on in May (more of that later, depending on whether I successfully get an entry into another event). I need to find willing partners for each of these events, as they aren't going to be safe or fun on my own.  Actually, I could solo all 3 but the swim might be awkward.  I'll have to think about that.
