Ironman Austria
The original plan (after the original-original plan was scrapped) was to go to Switzerland for my first (only?) Ironman. We plan to go over for a couple of weeks, with the girls and take a wee holiday after the hard work is over.
Unfortunately, finding appropriate (and affordable) accommodation (an apartment) is apparently difficult, so we've altered our plans to go to do Austria instead, where it's a bit easier. The provisional date is the 13th of July, 2008.
Austria looks like a good race - well organised, beautiful location, enthusiastic support from the locals and a fast course. Neither of us have been to Austria before - the race is in a place called Klagenfurt, which is close to the border with Slovenia and not too far from Italy. We haven't decided what to do after the event but we'll probably get a hire car and find a nice place to stay for a week or so.
