Crawling

That's it, all bets are off.  Emily crawled properly for the first time this evening.

She's gotten quite mobile over the last couple of weeks but she hadn't quite mastered crawling properly.  She usually ended up going backwards.  She looked like she wanted to crawl but couldn't quite work out what she had to do to make it happen.

Tonight, just before bath time, she managed it, even if she was a bit wobbly.

To be honest, it's a double-edged sword, since now she's more mobile, she'll be happier but of course, it means that we'll have to keep a much closer eye on her, since she's into everything.

2nd Edinburgh 10k

I ran the Great Edinburgh Run 10k on Sunday.  I ran it last year as well, when it was my first running race since I took up running.  Then, I ran it in 51:33 and this year I managed 47:07.

So, I've obviously gained some speed but I was hoping to go a bit quicker than I did.  Unfortunately, I've lost a bit of fitness during April (injury, illness, marathon) and haven't been running as often.  On top of that, it was very windy, particularly on the hill up through Holyrood Park, which was very difficult.

Still, it was a good event and I managed to place in the top 1000 (about 863rd, I think).  Becky and Emily came along too and we made a day out of it.

Open Water

I went swimming in open water (White Loch by Carnwath) last night, so that I can start to get used to it.

I was hoping/expecting to manage OK but it was quite difficult - it's a big jump from swimming in a pool because you can't see anything when your head is in the water.  Even little things like the taste of the water make it different and slightly scary.

I'll have to keep with it - I'm told that it'll become easier - here's hoping.
